Meta Platforms Inc. has announced a new bonus program specifically for Instagram creators, aimed at boosting their income through the creation of engaging content during the holiday season. This initiative is part of Meta's larger strategy to support and monetize content creation on Instagram, as well as Facebook, through new tools and subscription features that facilitate creator-follower interactions and enhance content visibility.


As the year winds down, Meta Platforms Inc. is bringing good tidings to Instagram content creators with the introduction of a special bonus program designed to amplify their earnings. The initiative, which is timed perfectly for the holiday rush, targets talented creators in the U.S., South Korea, and Japan, incentivizing the production of content that resonates with the Instagram audience.

This incentive program is by invitation only and rewards creators based on the viral reach of their reels and posts, aligning with the adherence to Meta’s monetization policies. Set as a time-limited offer, this bonus opportunity is geared to conclude with the year’s end, presenting a lucrative prospect for creators during the holiday season.

But the support for creators extends beyond the festive period. Meta is committed to enriching the creator experience on its platforms continually. This includes an upgrade to subscription services offered to creators on Instagram and Facebook. Notably, Instagram has witnessed a surge in active subscriptions, hitting the one million mark, and has expanded this feature across 35 new countries. The rollout of new tools is set to enhance visibility for subscription offerings and streamline communication with subscribers.

For Facebook, the introduction of new avenues for followers to initiate subscriptions is underway, such as through Reels and Stories. These changes will also allow creators to introduce trial subscriptions and to have the flexibility in adjusting subscription prices, catering to a diverse follower base.

The strategic emphasis on the creator economy was underscored by Marie-Elise Droga of Visa during a discussion with PYMNTS, highlighting that the sector is emerging like a new small-to-medium business (SMB) market. With the creator economy ingrained in the sprawling social commerce sector, financial services are prompted to pay attention to this nearly $1 trillion market.

Meta’s introduction of these bonus incentives and the expansion of creator tools follows its recent unveiling of features that aid creators in maximizing their content outreach, such as the Reels A/B testing tool for mobile users. This suite of features and programs indicates Meta’s investment in empowering creators to enhance their content and earnings as the social commerce landscape continues to evolve.
